The product is an immunological test for the qualitative detection of ferritin in venous whole blood (EDTA/ Li heparin), serum, plasma (EDTA/ Li heparin) and capillary blood from the fingertip. The test is an aid in the diagnosis of iron deficiency.
Iron deficiency is the most common deficiency disease worldwide and is present when the value falls below the normal value depending on gender and age. Iron is an essential component of erythrocytes and is required for the formation of haemoglobin and myoglobin, which regulate oxygen transport, among other things. Iron deficiency can be triggered by various causes, including chronic blood loss, bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, menstruation, growth, pregnancy or malnutrition. Typical symptoms include Pallor, brittle nails, fatigue, headaches, dizziness.
The test is intended exclusively for use by medically trained personnel.
The test cannot be used for diagnosis alone and should be evaluated in the context of the patient's medical history and a confirmatory laboratory test.
