The product is an immunological test for the qualitative detection of Legionella pneumophila serogroup I antigen in human urine samples. The test is an aid in the diagnosis of Legionella infection.

Legionella are rod-shaped, gram-negative bacteria that live in water and do not form spores. They are considered to be pathogenic to humans and the most important species for humans is Legionella pneumophila. It is the causative agent of legionellosis or Legionnaires' disease and can be asymptomatic or develop into pneumonia. The symptoms are non-specific; the infection usually begins with fever and chills, muscle pain and a dry, irritating cough. Shortness of breath, headaches, nausea and vomiting can also characterise the clinical picture.
The test is intended exclusively for use by medically trained personnel. The test cannot be used for diagnosis alone and should be evaluated in the context of the patient's medical history and a confirmatory laboratory test.
