The product is an immunological test for the qualitative detection of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in venous whole blood (EDTA/ Li heparin), serum, plasma (EDTA/ Li heparin) and capillary blood from the fingertip. The test is an aid in the diagnosis of an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism).

Hypothyroidism (latent or manifest) is a disease in humans that is thought to occur in around 10% of the population. Unrecognised, patients suffer from impairments of the cardiovascular and nervous systems, the musculature, metabolism and much more. TSH (thyrotropin) plays a central role in the regulation of thyroid hormone production. Its determination is one of the most important measures in the context of a health check.
